Santa Monica – Sonny Mclean’s

Called by many (people from New England) the “greatest bar that ever was,” Sonny Mclean’s is a much welcomed fresh breath of smoggy Santa Monica air. Featured in the Red Sox movie “Still We Believe” this place is frequented by New England transplants every night of the week, and is especially crowded during Red Sox and Patriots games. In fact, it’s worth your while to get to know the bartenders by name, and god forbid you plan on showing up Sunday without a reservation, because you’re standing for the whole Pats game. Nicky from Rhode Island can back me up when I say that Sonny’s, surprisingly, has some of the best food you’ll have in the Los Angeles area. Sure you could call it “pub grub” but it’s really well done pub grub.

Anyway, they have a veggie burger too, which is good for me and the lady. Highly recommended, if i can figure out how to get some sort of 1 to 5 star rating system on this site I’ll give it a 6. Stop by, tell them you were recommended by LA Snark and buy me a Guinness.
