So the girlfriend and I were open to going pretty much anywhere tonight. We got caught in the always random and stressful bottleneck traffic at the end of Santa Monica Blvd by the water, so I said “screw it, let’s go to P.F. Changs.” I generally like to avoid chain restaurants at all costs unless I’m trapped in Fullerton or Orlando, but there was something soothingly familiar about heading to a Chinese-themed Cheesecake Factory.
No complaints at all from this place, in fact it did the job well. P.F. changes either does a lousy job of pretending it’s an authentic Chinese restaurant, or they just don’t care. The Italian host gave me a nickname when he called my name and was full on straight outt
a Brooklyn when he bulled his way through the aisle and to our table. Our waitress was a nice “I moved out to LA to act” type and she took great care of us. The food was crazy filling, so either order two entrees and take one to go, or just get some appetizers and split one entree. The bottles of wine are also reasonably priced too, though don’t order the Pinot Noir second from the top, that was a bit off.
Overall good experience. We didn’t wait long, service was quick, the food was what you would expect but a little better from Mall-esque cuisine. Stop in when you’re stressed out in Santa Monica traffic.
