Vegetarian Sloppy Joes

Going vegetarian doesn’t mean you’ll never be able to sit down and enjoy a Manwich again. Here’s LA Snark’s recipe for an awesome, low-cal, low-fat, high-protein, high-fiber, vegetarian sloppy joe.

Round up the following:

1 bag of Morningstar Meal Starters (Found in the frozen food section of Ralphs, not the hippie frozen food section, but the regular frozen food section near the Eggo Waffles)

1 jar of tomato sauce (your choice here, this does effect the cal/fat amount so read that label if that’s a concern)

1 bottle of Frank’s Red Hot Original (because everything should have Frank’s Red Hot in it)

1 loaf of Oroweat Double Fiber Bread.

Throw the whole bag of Meal Starters into the pan and stir it around for a few minutes until it starts looking like it’s thawed. Then, add about one cup of tomato sauce and a generous amount of Frank’s Red Hot. Feel free to frequently add more Red Hot as it cooks as the potency really wears off in the heat, and you’re really just using it for flavor.

Put 2/3 of cup of the mix onto your double fiber bread, and it’s manwich time!

4g fat

13.5g fiber

13.5g protein

(2pieces bread, .25cup sauce, 2/3cup meat)
