New Beverly Hills 90210???!!!????!!??????

March 14th, 2008 · 38 Comments

Update! Brenda is Back!!!!!

WHAT! Are you fucking with me Hollywood? Don’t even try to tease me because I will drive down Sunset and bitch slap every one of you if this is an Ashton Kutcher-related hoax.

Hey am I the only guy reading sTori Telling.

As some of you may know, I spent the second half of last year, DVR’ing and watching every single episode of Beverly Hills 90210. I can now appear on one of those True Hollywood Stories as a 90210 historian. More…

E! and a bunch of other sources are reporting that a a new Beverly Hills 90210 “spinoff” is on it’s way to beeing greenlit. Tori Spelling is said to be in the running

for a role as a mom on the show. She apparently is quoted saying “Every show needs a MILF.” Ohhhh Kay Donna Martin. I’m not going to buy into that too much unless David Silver is the dad. Seriously, what is he, or any of the other cast members of 90210 doing that could possibly keep them away from being a part of this show?

Darren Star (original creator of Beverly Hills 90210 and Melrose Place) apparently has no part in this to-be series, and of course Aaron Spelling won’t have a part in it either. Instead, Rob Thomas, the creator of Veronica Mars (never seen it) (no not the Matchbox 20 Rob Thomas….. I don’t think) is in talks to help develop the show. Here’s some other interesting news: The show would be a part of a new television network, called The CW. Spokespeople at the CW say that this will definitely be a spinoff, and not a remake.. so no chance of Zac Efron grabbing the role of Dylan McKay.

Some super-fans are thinking the show should continue with Kelly and David’s younger sister Erin:

Anonymous:

* I have always thought that if they did a spin off it would be with Erin (Kelly and David’s little sis) or with Maddy (Steve and Janets) daughter. I think Erin would be a good fit because she was like 7-8 when the show ended so by now she would be in high school (but I guess Maddy would be in HS too). This way they could still have the old crew come back for an episode here and there!! I love 90210!!! If it gets the green light can Korbi have a “redux” type column each week???

Will this be great, or another case of modern Hollywood crushing our childhood dreams? (Hello Transformers and new Knight Rider.)

Do you think the old cast members should at least make infrequent appearances on the new show? Share your opinion below!

I’d be interested to see what happens. Honestly if the whole old cast came back and played parents and uncles to a younger generation, this show would be a home run. Like you said, what else are these guys doing now? Taking part in reality shows? Puleeze. And Donna is the least MILF-y character of the original cast.. well maybe Andrea was, but Donna was a close second.

How’s TAT looking these days? Tiffany Amber Theissen of course!

  • 3 The List // Mar 14, 2008

here are the characters that don’t need to come back:
    noah
brenda (ok i’m on the fence about that, that could be some good drama)
    kelly’s boring lawyer boyfriend
really any of kelly’s boring boyfriends
    donna’s mom
anyone involved in dylan’s flashback scenes

who we do need to see:
    main cast members
    emily valentine
valerie and gina in the same shot
    the rising of scott scanlon

i realize none of this will happen, but how awesome would that be

i wonder if they’ll fix up the peach pit facade in pasadena now. there’s nothing in there now

  • 5 Marc // Mar 15, 2008

well ian ziering is hosting that awful “your mama don’t dance” show, i’m sure he’d jump at the chance to have a regular acting gig again.

  • 6 tisha // Mar 15, 2008

well tori spelling has finally acknowledged that the huge valley between her boobs was caused boy breast implants.

  • 7 Mel // Mar 15, 2008

90210 The New Class was a concept they had back in 2000, but it didn’t go through. With the success of the OC, One Tree Hill and all those other shows, you’d think this would be a home run. I doubt they’ll use too many old cast members, though that would make me watch it more.

  • 8 Quasi // Mar 15, 2008

i so want this to be good, but i so know it will be a disappointment. it needs some of the old stars!

  • 9 Flank // Mar 15, 2008

is Andrea going to have to be bussed in to this show too?

  • 10 windyridge // Mar 17, 2008

    Seriously, the SAME cast?

  • 11 Mel // Mar 17, 2008

it won’t be the same cast, but i’d be down with that

  • 12 Tami Wilson // Mar 20, 2008

I think that they should use some of the previous cast members. It would keep all of the fans interest, and people would watch it more.
I definitely would watch it more if they used the old cast members. I always thought after 90210 went off the air, that it would be cool if they made a thirty something show using the 90210 Characters.

  • 13 Tanya // Apr 11, 2008

i think they should totally just use the old cast..i mean..sure bring in new ppl(bf…and…gf) like they always did..whether they have kids or not..or whether its career driven..i dont care which one but my god..what the hell are they thinking..honestly!!!..Im totally weakened that they think they can basically..get a time slot on a channel and grab all different cast..and then slap the name Beverly Hills 90210..how retarded!! And I titally love Tori Spelling..adore her..love her show Tori and Dean Inn Love..BUT come one..she may come back as a mother on the show..umm..wouldnt we like to c her have sex for a while??? ahahahaha..ya know like everyone else did..i mean experience diff. relationships..maybe a few std’s..pregnancy scares..my god..something…this is seriously a bummer..i dont know what Hollywood is thinking..its soo not gunna b the same without the old cast..and really..the old cast IS NOT OLD..why cant they just bring THEM back and base it around career and having children and relationships..marriages succeeding..and failing..guess we’ll have to c guys..I fell for us allllll!!!!

  • 14 Steph // Apr 15, 2008

I want to see the old cast back again!!

  • 15 Chad // Apr 15, 2008

Do we really want a reunion episode…especially since Gabrielle Carteris had that facial paralysis… http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2008/03/06/gabrielle-carteris-andre_n_90312.html

  • 16 ILuvDonna // Apr 21, 2008

I wanna see the old cast and where they are with their lives years later!

  • 17 Shoerel // Apr 30, 2008

I think the only way this show could succeed is if original cast members come back. Right now, they’re saying Lori Loughlin (Full House and Summerland) is going to be in it and someone from the N’s Degrassi. Soapnet mention that the show is going to include “the Silver siblings,” so I’m wondering if that means Donna and David’s kids. I do like the idea of the show being about Maddy, Erin, and any other children the gang could have had–maybe Kelly and Dylan’s kids? Unfortunately, I don’t see the CW going in that direction.

  • 18 Waylan // May 3, 2008

who from the original cast is too busy to take part in this? you know they’re calling their agents every two seconds to get on this. should we start some kind of petition?

  • 19 Chad // May 12, 2008

Just saw this on TMZ today…Jennie Garth is back!

It’s official; Jennie Garth is heading back to “90210″, according to Us magazine. Rumors have been heating up since Jennie pulled out of a CBS pilot and CW reps confirmed that the former brat is returning to West Beverly High as the school guidance counselor. Kelly Taylor certainly has enough life experience and drama to be successful in that job.

  • 20 Chad // May 12, 2008

From momlogic.com on Jason Priestley’s return:

Jason Priestley told momlogic.com that no one has contacted him about making a comeback to Beverly Hills, but said he would be open to reprising his role. Jason only had praise for the teen drama that allowed him to do a lot of different jobs and said he would return to the show “if it’s the right thing, I’m certainly open to it. I loved working on that show. I loved everything I did on that show.”

  • 21 chloe // May 14, 2008

I think Luke Perry (Dylan) and Jennie Garth (Kelly) should come back with more than an appearance considering they were kind of getting close in the very last episode.

I love this show and hope it kicks ass as much as the original show.

  • 25 Jayme // May 21, 2008

Ok , I just say the “Preview” for the New 90210 OMG does it SUCK…. this is going to be horrible, they definalty need to bring back as “friends” of the Mills kids, Maddy , Erin, What about Andrea’s Daughter??? hUMMMM….they need to bring back some of the old cast members lets say as the Mills new “adult” friends, oh dear god WHAT HAVE THEY DONE to 90210 i think it’s going to be a disaster ……NOOOOOOOOOO

  • 26 Jamie // May 28, 2008

I have also DVR’d and watched every season last year. I LOVE that show…I am so looking forward to the new one. I can’t wait to see what the do!

  • 27 Rob // Jun 23, 2008

Will be off air in one year if they go with a new cast.
They would be smart to bring back the old cast then you would have more audiences watching cause you would have the whole family watching it every week instead of just the younger generation.
The result will be like Dumb and Dumber was with its sequel Dumb and Dumberer without Jim Carey and Jeff Daniels.

    A joke !!!!!!!!!!!!

  • 28 Sara // Jun 25, 2008

OMG!!! THEY BETTER BRING THE OLD CAST BACK! Someone start a god damn petition ASAP!

i have DVR’d alll the seasons too and iam absolutly in love with 90210. :]]

Ok obsessed fans and Snark lovers, I just read that the new 90210 spin-off will feature a new and improved Peach Pit hangout.

Gone is the 1950s diner Peach Pit, replaced by a little more modern meeting place. The new Peach Pit is the real-life Kokomo Cafe in Los Angeles, where the new CW 90210 crew has already shot some exterior and interior footage.

  • 31 Lisa Mac // Jul 9, 2008

I agree with Tami Wilson’s suggestion about bringing the original cast back and doing a thirty-something type show. I was just saying that same thing the other day. A lot of us grew up along side of those characters and now we are in our early to mid thirties and I think it would a lot more drama in seeing what the old gang is up to now. i.e marriage, divorce, careers or lack their of, child birth, infedelity, single parent hood or just being thirty. It think it would be way more interesting to watch.

  • 32 Bernard // Jul 9, 2008

I couldn’t agree more Lisa, unfortunately, I think networks care more about attracting the teen to mid 20’s audience so they can sell relevant advertising to them. I would sooo love to see a full on reunion of the full cast though. If Brenda rejoins the new 90210 spinoff cast, it’s going to be AWESOME. I just want Steve, Brandon, and Dylan there too. Oh yeah and David and Valerie too

  • 33 Red // Jul 11, 2008

Thirty Something was a successful show back in the day, why can’t we have another one of those? How about Dallas, Dynasty, and Falcon Crest? I’m showing my age here, but those are shows that 30 somethings get into, and that’s a good place for advertisers to target the yuppie market.

  • 35 Old Cast is Necessary // Jul 12, 2008

Hello bitches that are tasked with the writing of the new 90210. You have the opportunity to make a show that will engage people and make them schedule their day around each episode. But you won’t. You’ll make it just another “I’ll just DVR” it show that people will get to when they have some free time on the weekends.

If the original 90210 cast members are not involved in this series, we don’t give a shit about this new generation. Sure, Jennie Garth has signed on, and Tori said she’s in after her next birth, but you need some cred.. and replaying the OC ain’t gonna do it.

  • 36 Ling // Jul 12, 2008

I been watching all 10 years of Friends for the last month or so, and I’d like to see them come up with a spinoff. Not like ‘Joey’, though. That sucked.

  • 37 Anonymous // Jul 17, 2008

I love all of the old cast members and wish them back on the show but two out of seven is okay i guess. Tori Spelling is set for 1 episode but not for the whole series yet . Jennie Garth is playing the recurring role of the guidance councelor at west beverly high.
