“The arrogant Brit vs. the American Cowboy” - Really NBC? Your New York City based reality show is really going to reach that hard to catch middle America’s eyes in the Celebrity apprentice finale?
Piers called it himself in the episode, that the show would promote the final Celebrity Apprentice task as America vs. the unlikeable Brit, and then immediately after the show ends, that’s exactly how they said it in the promo for next week’s finale.
Here’s my take, Piers is overly confident, but for good reason. When you’re pitted against Steven Baldwin who’d traded coke lines for Jesus, Marilu Henner who toootttally has adult ADHD, Lennox Lewis who talks 2 miles a minute (did anyone else not realize he had an English accent until last night after Piers mentioned that Lennox was a Brit playing on an American team?), Carol Alt, who I don’t really have a problem with, but her complacency meant that she couldn’t win.
..annnd Trace Adkins. Yeah, he went up against him too. America’s hearts were won over by this moral-riding, tell-it-like-it-is cowboy with the food-allergic-daughter. That’s all fine, and hey I was rooting for him…. until I saw a live performance of this guy on DirecTV On Demand. First of all, the dude barely sings, and most of the concert is him rotating his hips in a “i’m banging the air” kinda way. Seriously, it’s like near, far with his balls. I don’t need to see that. I’m not buying the morals thing. That’s gross.
So have at it NBC, play the America vs, the foreigners (our allies) game and see where that gets us. I just ask that the show maintain some level of respectability and not make this a Hollywood ending where the American wins for the same of America winning. The smarter person should always win the Apprentice, and if not, well then it’s just another reality popularity contest.
