Just finished watching the my first episode of Battle 360 on the History Channel last night. I can’t believe this show is on it’s 8th episode and I am just finding it
now…maybe I need to watch more TV. Hell, it’s even on Friday’s at 10pm, well I guess most history buffs are old dudes with no socials lives. Well I did watched it on Tivo to fit into my “crazy rocking social life”. Anyway, I love these historical war re-enactments. Remember Decisive Battles TV show back in 2004? Fourteen awesome episodes of Roman Empire Battle re-enactments using video game technology. Check out a full episode here. The fascinating part of both of these shows is the shear magnatude of war. In the Roman era it was the size of Armies- battle with 50 thousand troops at once. With the new Battle 360 shows, it’s the amount of troops and armor and size of these Battle Cruisers. Totally Impressive. The show is a historical look at the battles seen from the aspect of WWII aircraft carrier USS Enterprise and the crew that served on it. They use the latest technology and animation to bring to life the action, from fighter planes in the sky to submarines scouting out the enemy as the Enterprise fights its way to victory in the Pacific. It’s totally life like with three hundred and sixty degree coordination between air and sea. Now I just need to wait until they re-play the rest of them on the History Channel, of course I guess they’ll probably end up on the History Channel Web store, where they pimp out all these shows. And yes, I have actually purchased some of them before. The Decisive battles: Thermopylae DVD, and if you have read this far then you should check it out here.
