Unsigned Indie UK band The Get Out Clause- Awesome Video idea or PR stunt?

May 10th, 2008 · 4 Comments

This is either the coolest PR Stunt, or the most creative and cheaply produced music video I have everUK British band The Get Out Clause seen. Unsigned Indie rock band The Get Out Clause in Manchester England says they were unable to afford a camera crew to shoot their video, so they decided to use the closed caption surveillance cameras that are located all over the city…a stunt that would be impossible to pull off in the States as the only cameras I know of are at stop lights. So this band ran around to 80 know cameras (there are 13 million of them in Britain) and set up all their equipment and played their song to the cameras, one camera was even on a bus. After they were done they were petitioned all of the surveillance companies to send them the footage under the “Freedom of information Act”. They received footage from 20 of the companies and were able to cobble that into a video. Never hearing this band before, I had to check out the video simple for this “PR stunt”, well the song is actually pretty cool. You can listen to all of The Get out Clause’s songs here on their Myspace page. For more on this story click here. The Get out Clause Uk Indie Band

Wonder if this is real or just a good editing job? Has anybody heard anything else on this lately?
