Ok, who can forget James Frey’s public and humiliating beat down by the mega-superstar-goddess-Oprah Winfrey…I sure can’t, I can still picture him with his head hung down low sitting in the chair across from Oprah during one of many tongue lashings. James Frey the author of both A Million Little Pieces and My Friend Leonard. I had read My Friend Leonard prior to the scandal, (which I think is better book of the two) then while in the middle of reading A Million Little Pieces, this controversy came to the forefront, well I still enjoyed the book a hell of a lot even though some or all of it may have been fabricated.
Well James Frey is at it again with the release of his new book, (this time fiction) Bright Shiny Mornings which takes place in LA. From the Publisher: “Dozens of characters pass across the reader’s sight lines—some never to be seen again—but James Frey lingers on a handful of LA’s lost souls and captures the dramatic narrative of their lives”.
I really love books that center around LA, remember those classic Charles Bukowski books like Pulp? I am predicting this will be a great book. Jame Frey will also be doing a book signing on Thursday May 15th at the Whiskey A Go Go in Hollywood at 7:30pm.
