I appreciate Seth and Judd for sticking their necks out and trying something new. They give hope to the underdog and provide a glorious fuck you to pretentious critics.
I don’t consider this “sticking their necks out” at all. I consider this them thinking they have all this positive momentum behind them from The 40 Yr Old Virgin, Knocked Up, Superbad, and Forgetting Sarah Marshall that whatever they do will be a hit. This movie was terrible, and they need to look back at what made those other movies successful and keep going with that.
I have to admit, I was wondering when their magic train would hit the wall, and this is it. I can only compare this to the Will Ferrell movies that were hit after hit after hit, and then finally died with Semi-Pro.
This movie sucked, and if we all band together and admit that, they’ll get together and come back with another stellar film like their previous efforts.

this review is pathetic. if you’ve ever smoked a bowl, you’d understand the erratic flow of genius seeping through the plot. Yeah, the acting wasn’t the greatest, but it’s a stoner flick. And yeah, the jokes aren’t as straight-forward or humorous to the general audience compared to Superbad, but once again, if you’ve ever smoked a bowl, you’d understand.. there’s an abundance of humor in their actions, rather than their dialogue. You could watch this movie muted and still be entertained.

I just happened to come across this page, and I was a little disappointed about the reaction to Pineapple Express. Being a young film-maker, in my senior year of college (and before you homo’s bash on me, I ACTUALLY have work coming up at a REAL film studio), I know my shit. And what I do know is that this movie made me laugh my ass off.
It didn’t need a huge budget, or super-stars. What you fail to miss is good writing, and a dive into a class of people that is not one many people are too familiar with (stoners). So when the person a few lines up said “they stuck their necks on the line” with this movie, was right. They made a “stoner movie,” which you might say is aimed toward a specific crowd. Funny thing is, it brought in a good box office receipt, and had good reviews. I’m sorry that it’s no transformers, or star wars (which you guys probably watch everyday, fanboys). Not every movie needs to have a half-billion dollar budget, explosions every 5 seconds, and a cast of stars to make it good. So whatever you have to say, go on, say it; because I actually have a spot in this industry, and you guys have a spot in front of your computer, and at your parents house.
I swear…everyone’s a critic. That or stupid.
Well “Jeff” it’s pretty obvious that your movie is going to be absolutely terrible if you thought this movie to contained “good writing.” I just watched it and OH MY GOD was this the worst writing I’ve ever seen in a film, and I’ve been producing indie (Good Will Hunting) films for years. I’ve seen better writing in a Sandra Bullock movie. Have fun in Hollywood Dawson, be sure to learn some secretary skills along the way, you’re gonna need them.
