Yeah it was fun, but for some reason I forgot that the forum was an outdoor venue whether you were inside or outside of it. We spent the day (about 9am til 6:30pm) in the blazing Inglewood sun. I of course did not bring sunblock and I am not a tanning man.
The theme of the video is setting new records for the Guinness Book of World Records. The first event involved four “rocker” looking guys playing Rock Band for at least 12 hours. They asked the singer to jump around and pose more but he wasn’t having any of it. We watched them for a bit, after some “host” character in a suit and black wig introduced them.
Then we took part in the biggest dodgeball game ever recorded. I’m not sure if other large dodgeball games just never had a Guinness official there or what the deal was, but while there as a good turnout, it didn’t look like a record breaking performance.. maybe it was, I dunno.
Then Rivers appeared dressed up like a cholo.. complete with hairnet, wifebeater, long Dickies shorts, a neck tattoo, and a spider tattoo around his elbow. Rivers has done hard time you see. His record to break was the most fans towed by a singer’s teeth in a video (or something like that.) I don’t know if there was a trick involved but the car moved.
Then there were a group of people that rode the biggest skateboard ever created.. people wobbled back and forth but I only saw a couple people fall off.
Then they filled a giant wooden Weezer logo with nachos. For the rest of the day we would smell cheese and jalapenos but we weren’t even allowed to eat them! It looked great for one second then pretty nasty for the rest of the day.
Then we did the world’s largest air guitar performance, complete with windmills and kicks. Some air guitar champion was there to coach us through it, that guy was oddly intense.
Then Brian Bell played a part of the song from across the parking lot to break the record for longest guitar cable in a video. Alrighty.
Then we did the “raddest” hootenanny ever. I think this was supposed to be the “biggest” hootenanny ever recorded, but it’s possible that not enough people showed up (they told us to call our friends to have them come down, and when my girlfriend arrived some bitchy blonde production assistant in the tent said “You’re just getting here now? The are NOT going to like this!” So we jammed along to the song 3 or 4 times.. they picked out some people that actually knew how to play the bridge and put them up close to the microphones.
Then we did the standard rock-out part where we jump up and down and sing along, good fun, but God damn it was hot. All of the members of the band were friendly and talked with the fans except for Rivers who apparently kept his distance (judging by why I saw and what I’m reading on the Weezer blog and other blogs.)
The day ended with a pie fight, which I had to bow out of, because hey, I probably have skin cancer now. It’ll all be worth it when the video comes out.

Nice write up. Sounds fun and can’t wait to see the video.
The Forum parking lot brings back memories. I remember The Cure shot a music video on The Forum parking lot.

This should make for some fun youtubing, especially the pie-fight.

Wow- funny enough I must have gotten that same bitchy assistant lady, which was so odd because the rest of the staff/ crew were so nice. Anyways, I showed up on my call time and she almost turned my friend and I away. Then when I get home I see all the rest of the e-mails saying “Invite your pals” and so on. I would have been pissed if I was turned away just to go home and read that. She was completely clueless and awful.
