Liveblogging the 90210 premier!
I thought the intro showed a lot of promise! I like the new theme. What’s up with KTLA f’n up the broadcast? It’s showing on half the screen and then it goes back and forth between HD and standard def. Whatup CW/KTLA?
Man they’re packing a lot of drama into this episode.. teen sex, teen drug use, teen racism, teen uh.. lacrosse.. girls backstabbing each other and becoming friends again already. Interesting.
That whole blog thing.. really reminiscent of Quarterlife.. that didn’t get very far.
I have to say, so far I’m not hating it. Maybe it’s because I live in LA and I can at least look at the scenary when I lose interest, but it’s much more satisfying than watching The Hills, and I never miss an episode of that. Ok back to the show.
Ok they’re really drilling this Naomi’s mom and the dad having had a thing together and now they have a kid together. I’m not a teenager and I don’t care, maybe sweep that story under the rug and bring back Dylan, Steve, or Brandon to make up for it.
Why did Silver go to Naomi’s party after telling Kelly how much she hates Naomi? Hey where was this shot, I want to go there.
Dang this Annie forgives people pretty quickly.. that’s like 3 girls in one episode. Is that a Kansas thing?
Ok Kelly has a kid.. supposedly producers are leaving it open as far as who the father is.
ANDDDDDDDDDDD.. END SCENE: Santa Monica beach.
Hour 2: The Jet Set
Ahh those crazy West Beverly (Torrance) High School kids trashed “Palisades Hall” the main hallway in the school. Ok.
Oh man, uncomfortable scene with one dude playing acoustic guitar and some (this guy turns out to be gay right) guy singing in a sweater.
Druggy girl is singing along to her iPod in class. Red eyes, weird bangs, cool teacher trying to reach out, great TV right here. Oh snap, she totally just owned the “cool teacher” by saying she has to pay the mortgage because her mom can’t. Take that cool teacher.
So the gay singer guy in a sweater is taking Annie to dinner in San Francisco via his private jet.
Ok back to Kelly, finally. Oh cool teacher is after Kelly, this whole thing smells a lot like Boston Public.
OMG Brenda is back. Girls going to get their drink on.
Ok high school prank going on, porn pigs. Cool.
Alright so you want the audience to see some sexual tension between Annie and the dorky guy that was getting a BJ in the car, ok.
Can we get back to Kelly and Brenda getting hammered at The Pit again? Thanks.
Hey I thought it was pretty decent. It didn’t suck me in, but I’m willing to check it out next week. Hey Jackie Taylor is back next week!

I am SO psyched about this, people on the east coast are watching it now! If only I could have flown east for the premier or bothered to get the east coast feed on my tv!
2 Amy // Sep 2, 2008

If anyone back east is watching the new 90210 now and would like to submit a review afterwards or during your viewing feel free.. as you can see California 90210 fans are chomping at the bit for some early reviews!

I’m SO excited but also sad that all this anticipation about how great this show could be may end in under 3 hours. What if it’s a complete flop? What do I invest all my teenage hopes in then?

I was telling The Girl that if this show is a hit… maybe we could see a new Dawson’s Creek? What else are those actors doing? Would Tom Cruise let that happen?

what this show needs to do is have some moral stance that will win over parents and teens alike. in an age where gossip girl is trying to get ahead by basically being a show about teenage sex, we need a well grounded show that will be able to stand the test of time.

i have a feeling it’s going to be ok. it’ll start slow, show promise, and then some other former BH90210 stars will start joining up.

I can’t wait for the episode where Dylan shows up, you KNOW it’s going to happen.
9 Brian // Sep 2, 2008
I agree, Dylan will definitely make an appearance. I also think that they’ll work something out with Tori Spelling and she’ll be back within the first season.
10 Mel // Sep 2, 2008
Season one cliffhanger: Kelly or Brenda answers the door: Dylan

how long is brenda even going to be on the show this time? shannen doherty gets kicked off or walks off every show she’s on! maybe valerie will come back!
12 Virginia // Sep 2, 2008
I want Valerie back!
13 9021 OH YEAH! // Sep 2, 2008
This has got to be good, more original cast members would make it better, but Brenda and Kelly together again with appearances by Nat is a good start. I just hope these kids aren’t too annoying.
14 JSnark // Sep 2, 2008
If I see one of the new cast members in an Ed Hardy shirt or hat I’ll scream.
15 Bil // Sep 2, 2008
Anyone start watching yet? Yay or Nay?
16 Erin // Sep 2, 2008
I like it so far!
17 Paul // Sep 2, 2008
Just over 2 hours!
18 Kelle // Sep 2, 2008
Jennie Garth promises fans of the old show will like it, we can trust Jennie right?
19 Marez // Sep 2, 2008
So is it confirmed that “Silver” on the show is in fact “Erin Silver”, Kelly and David’s little sister?
20 No Brando, you can't Direct // Sep 2, 2008
PLEASE don’t let Jason Priestly direct any episodes of the new series.. the episodes he directed in the original were all those weirdo stories with the weird black and white flashbacks. Brandon or bust I say.
21 Alice // Sep 2, 2008
I’m falling asleep watching this
22 Tim // Sep 2, 2008
it’s good!
23 Lori // Sep 2, 2008
really feels like the old series actually! and yes erin silver is kelly and david’s little sister in this series.
24 Scott King // Sep 2, 2008
Yes us East Coasters have finished all two hours of it… don’t worry. You west coasters aren’t missing anything.
25 CC // Sep 2, 2008
really couldn’t have been anymore horrible. terrible. terrible. terrible. the acting was painful. in an age where we have slick shows like gossip girl i can’t believe that they would waste time producing this crap.
26 Bird Feeders // Sep 2, 2008
I still can’t believe this show is back. My wife is excited, but I want nothing to do with this. It wasn’t very good the first time!
27 stephanie // Sep 2, 2008

28 JSnark // Sep 2, 2008

I liked it! I thought it was really done and I’ll definitely be watching next week.
30 Maura // Sep 2, 2008
It was great to see Kelly and Brenda together again, but they need more screen time!
31 Willy // Sep 2, 2008
People back east said it sucked, I thought it was kinda cool. Definitely better than that gossip girl crap.
32 ToniSez // Sep 2, 2008
Not bad at all.
33 Himbo // Sep 3, 2008
Dude! I loved it! I loved your review too btw… totally had me rolling.
And yes, it’s totally a Kansas thing.
By the end of the show, I would have keyed three cars and maybe roughed those heifers up a little, just for fun.
34 Jessica Rae // Sep 3, 2008
I was so surprised I didn’t hate it. That seems to be the consensus. But do we like it cause of our low expectations? Next week we’ll know, maybe.
I’ve started watching The Hills - haha. I’m glad someone else in the blogosphere will admit they do too. It’s just kind of fun and stuff. I don’t know. Great play-by-play.

Pretty watchable, but not enough to meet the hype.
