Dunkin’ Donuts (finally) returning to California?

LA Snark reader Yana has reported in this post that Dunkin’ Donuts is hiring staff for a Dunkin’ Donuts shop in Torrance.  This could be the greatest news ever!  I woke up with a huuge Dunkin’ Donuts Iced Coffee craving this morning and to this day I still can’t believe it’s impossible for me to hit the drive thru on the way to wherever I’m going.  Is it possible that our wishes have been answered?  Is Dunkin’ Donuts really coming to the Los Angeles area??

Here is the job posting Yana found: http://www.snagajob.com/job-seeker/jobs/job-details.aspx?postingId=582675&fsr=true

The address is 20022 Hawthorne Blvd, Torrance, CA 90503

The Guardian’s business section is saying that Dunkin’ Donuts is looking to expand into California in the next 3 years: http://www.guardian.co.uk/business/feedarticle/7783716

Ok, I just found out that it is a Togo’s, and we all know, they carry DD coffee inside. Why would the ad say that DD is hiring then, and not Togo’s???? Hmmm, I hope someone drops by and let us know soon…..and i really hope we won’t be dissapointed…

I don’t live in the States so I have never had a Dunkin’ Donuts experience but that picture you posted has got my mouth watering! Is there any chance they may come to little old New Zealand?!

Has anybody been to the store in Torrance to verify if it actually a DD store? The job posting is also on the DunkinDonuts website, which is very, very encouraging :)

It’s a Togos. I live in Torrance and was so excited, but I double checked the address and it is NOT a Dunkin Donuts. I did attend the National restaurant show last year and was told by a D&D rep that Dunkin Donuts was making a return to Southern California within the next few years. The show was at the Los Angeles Convention Center and it was a D&D booth. I was told that they would be corporate franchising only….maybe the economy has halted this phase.

    Thank you for your info.
But they keep showing those DD commmercials on TV, every day. It makes you think that they are working on it….

    I am sad :(

Togos, Baskin Robbins, and Dunkin Donuts are all one company. If you guys miss the donuts, just go to Daily Donuts in Torrance on Crenshaw corner Sepulveda. They used to be Dunkin until early 90s but have kept the same recipies. DK Donuts on Torrance and Hawthorne have done the same thing but recently closed down.

I just left ( Jan 24th 5:05 pm ) Togo’s at 20022 Hawthorne Bl, Torrance and talked to a young man working there. There was no manager at the time I was there, but this employee laughed when I asked him about a Dunkin Donuts opening there. He knows nothing about it and this was the first he’s heard of it???

    Hmm what’s the big deal?
There’s a Dunkin Donuts like a few blocks away from my house. Unless it’s closed by now?? But I see it all the time on my way home from school.

Yes I’m in California, near LA actually.
I’m guessing I was wrong because I used the store locator on the main site and it said that there aren’t any around here. But I can swear seeing one right next to a 7/11 near my school. Hm tomorrow I’ll check. ^^

Oh Ricky, you gave me such hope!!! *sniff* I’ve been frantically searching for a DD in Southern California, only to find out that there wasn’t one. I’m a native Californian, but after visiting a friend in Maine and tasting the perfectness that I learned was Dunkin’ Donuts, I couldn’t get enough. And then I came back, only to learn that I was alone in my fantasy that California would actually be perfect.

    Oh well.

California is perfect, but it would be more perfect if we also had a nice philly stake and cheese, NY pizza and italian cappucino that we all miss so much from the East Coast.

Yana, we have those in LA. You just have to search for them. Try chowhound.com. For philly steaks, got to Big Mike’s Philly Steaks in Hermosa Beach and El Segundo, mentioned alot on Jay Leno’s Tonight Show. Best New York pizza in LA is Vito’s on La Cienega north of Melrose.

I first learned there were no Dunkin D’s a few years ago. In fact, if you watch the show “Scrubs” there is debate about where the show takes place (it is deliberately vague) and I always point out that it can’t be So Cal because on one episode they are seen at a DD drive through.

I live in Hawthorne, so Torrance would be an easy drive.

A year ago I was back East and took a nostalgia tour vacation like my family used to make. To start things off right, I went to DD (conveniently located on the way to the freeway as they are) and got a dozen for the road. Being a family of four when I was younger, we were allowed to get 3 (you know those workers must groan when they see families come in to order dozens LOL). My brother would wolf his down and then pester me the rest of the night for one of mine.

Hey, at this point I’m just happy Krispy Kreme showed up so we finally have actual cream-filled donuts here, instead of that pudding crap they used to call “cream” (now it’s “custard”)

My Mother called about franchising a dunkin donuts here in California, but they told her there were no opportunities in California at this time. :( I know, but we are looking in to Dell’s Lemonade another east coast treat. For now we’ll all just have to visit the east a little more often, I guess…

Amanda, your mom is a saint for even considering moving Dunkin’ Donuts or Del’s Lemonade out here. I was back east a couple weeks ago, and had my fill of Dunkin’ Donuts but had to leave before Del’s opened for the day.

There was actually a Del’s Lemonade on the Vegas strip at one time, and the cup/logo is still on a food court area along with M&M’s and other recognizable products. I combed that building looking for the Del’s but no one had any idea what I was talking about and probably wondered why I needed a lemonade so bad.
