I can really only recommend this if you do happen to be a Patriots fan, because otherwise you may be killed. Ok that’s stretching it, there were a few Jets fans at Sonny McLean’s Sunday and no one bothered them outside of a little teasing.
I covered this bar last year but I have been back many, many times. Yes I’m from New England so maybe it appeals to me more than transplants from say.. New York, but it’s the most down-to-earth bar you’ll find in the LA area. I haven’t paid for NFL Sunday Ticket yet, and what’s more fun that watching the Pats with a bar packed with fellow Boston/New England fans?
Brian was there, he seemed to have a good time too.

Sonny’s is great, but why don’t they show the game in High Def? All the new tv’s are High Def, any reason for this? I was a little disappointed until I got a few beers in me.

Usually when a bar (and really it’s usually an Irish pub where I see this) has HD tv’s that aren’t tuned to the HD channel it’s because there are standard def TV’s in the bar and there’s a 1 or 2 second delay between standard def and hi def. When the bar has both sd and hd the people watching the sd cheer for a touchdown a couple seconds before the hd viewers and that’s not fun for anyone. That said, I thought Sonny’s had all HD tv’s now, no?
