  OMG, I could NOT believe how the singer to io Echo bit EVERY move she did from Karen O of the Yeah Yeah Yeahs! EVERY SINGLE MOVE! She put that scarf over her head, she held the mic and cord out to the side, she held the mic and her hand out flat to the crowd, she wrapped the microphone cord around her neck, she did ALL of Karen O’s moves! I could not believe it!

  Hot Chip was awesome, best show I’ve seen in a long long time. I’ll definitely hit them up the next time they come out.

  i didn’t sense any of karen o from the io echo band. their music sounds nothing alike. i actually was really blown away by io echo i thought she was a stunning performer.

  glo you’ve OBVIOUSLY never seen the Yeah Yeah Yeahs live. EVERY SINGLE MOVE she made was taken directly from Karen O. Go ahead and Google io echo yeah yeah yeahs, I’m not the first to say it. That girl needs to get her own act, that was a direct copy. After seeing io do the Karen O poses with the mic my friend said “if she puts a scarf over her head i’m outta here” and then she DID put a scarf over her head and sing JUST LIKE KAREN O.

  Do they sound like the Yeah Yeah Yeahs? Hell no, the Yeah Yeah Yeahs sound GOOD.

  io echo has a song called no exposure. that is probably why she put her sweater over her face while she was singing it. as for those photos, i thought they were of the girl in cristal castles. talk about biting moves.

  glo hasn’t seen the yeah yeah yeah’s live. what a total cop.. karen lives in silverlake now, io might want to scan the crowd before doing those moves around town.

  Haha yeah that’s why she put the sweater over her face. I agree with Thom and Karen, I predicted every move she was going to do before she did it. I’ve heard of emulating your heroes, but come on now, Karen is still on the scene!

  I thought that same thing! Why did she blatantly rip off Karen O? It’s like she was fronting a Yeah Yeah Yeahs tribute band but no one told the backing band so the backing band went on to play She Wants Revenge songs instead.

  Well seeing as Crystal Castles came out in 2004 and the Yeah Yeah Yeahs came out in 2000… yeah.

  I was at the show last night, and actually really enjoyed io echo. Yes, she is a dark haired girl fronting a rock band, but so is PJ Harvey, Joan Jett, Patti Smith, Wendy O Williams the list goes on and on, decades previous to the yeah yeah yeahs. I saw pj harvey sing with a towel over her head once. pj harvey came out in 1991. Does that mean that karen o ripped off pj harvey. Probably not. I thought io echo’s dance moves were more zombie like, anyway. changing the subject, i want to talk about hot chip, the focus of the show. And i thought they were stellar. Their song that they played for the first time in the states was magnificent. And I thought their strobe lights were powerful and mixed well with what they were trying to accomplish.

  eh Dano, while there are and have been plenty of female singers fronting rock bands, the point here is more that all of the moves were specifically from Karen O.

  Okay, I’ve read the above proofs, stating your cases, and I will not concede to her ripping off Karen O. Not even a little bit. That would be like trying to steal the Cheerios recipe from the Safeway brand cheerios instead of the General Mills Cheerios, and that skinny psycho seems slightly smarter than that. She has a set of lungs too, and I thought she would snap her head off a couple times, she ripped it back so hard. I think she is made out of india rubber entirely. And her on the knees bit at the end was athletic and hot. Me and my friend felt sorry for the guitarist, who she is obviously banging, because he must get pretty beat up from time to time. Anyway, I would say they both rip off Siouxsie Sioux all the time. But who cares. What matters so much, is how I was gettin down with my own badness last night because of how hot Hot Chip was. I have never seen the Wiltern turn into a full on dance party like that. But then again, last time I was there, I saw Nick Cave, and I don’t think I would dance to Nick either, although I think would sell my soul to him. That was the best show since Devendra and Gilberto at Hollywood Bowl, and I don’t even miss my twenty-six bux.
