The chicken’s have a chance to get out and spread their legs, but things just got a little tighter for California gays. We’re going to have a lot to talk about on those high speed rail commutes.
To reiterate: Any Christian - the regular kind or the crazy Mormon kind - who voted Yes on Prop 8 is a thug. A stupid bully hiding behind a fairy tale. If it comforts you to believe in your imaginary friend, that's fine. But don't expect me to listen to your insane ravings, or to abide by your neurotic rules. I know teenage girls with eating disorders who could vote more sanely and responsibly than a "Christian."

I think these results should change both CA and the nation's ideas about CA. People still think of this state as a hippie paradise - the truth is, there are a huge number of 1st generation americans here, and they aren't usually culturally liberal. I understand where the yes on 8 result came from. Thus far, every person I've heard from who supports it here in LA has been 1st generation. So really those who say it's a "deep south" mentality are thinking of the wrong "south". Think south of the border. Or even far east, for that matter.
Anyway, I just thought I'd float an idea here, even though it looks like much of the bickering is already over. I voted no on 8, but since then I've been converted over to the thinking that no one should be legally married. What I mean is, because marriage is a religious title/process, it shou'dn't be regulated by the state since that crosses the "separation of church and state" guidline. Instead, the same rights given to marriage should be given to civil unions. Then all people who want to be tied in that manner can have a civil union legally, and marriage based on their personal religious affiliations. Likewise, any other things they wanted included/excluded from their civil union in regards to the marriage they can put into a pre-nuptial agreement.
So it makes more sense to me to fight for more rights for civil unions than to allow everyone to get married (something which shouldn't be administered by the state, in my current opinion).
For all those people who think that those who voted against prop 8 don't have values, well guess what, we do; the difference is that we're not afraid of change or having our own opinion, gay marriage is bound to happen at some point, and children shouldn't be affected because they are innocent and don't think as adults; they have to get used to dealing with different situations, they are the future. It's the only way them to grow tolerant. We would avoid hate crimes!!!!
