It’s official, I’m dumping Don Antonio’s for Gilbert’s El Indio.
Why? The food is better, the prices are better, it’s easier to park, uh, the food is better. It really is the best Mexican restaurant in the Santa Monica/West LA area. We’ve tried them all, Don Antonio’s, Lares, el Cholo, …Baja Fresh. Ok we haven’t tried them all but so far this is the standout. Yeah the cash only thing blows, and yeah I’d probably order a few more rounds if I was sure I had enough cash on me, but hey, thanks for saving me from a hangover Gilbert’s. Plus, you can have a couple margaritas and then walk down to the Daily Pint and throw your card down.
I should add though, that when my parents come to visit I’ll probably take them to Don Antonio’s because I like the cave room where Heidi and Spencer sit.
I ordered the super burrito sans meat and it was super filling, like I felt el prego after leaving this place. I did head down to the Daily Pint and had to leave without ordering because there was just no room left. I will attempt the 2fer Gilbert’s/Daily Pint night again soon though.
