MySpace parent FIM prepares for layoffs…and drops free lunch!

Update 1/26/09:  TechCrunch reports FIM to layoff 100 employees, mostly from photobucket and corporate.  Lookout LA job hunters, there are now 100 more people to compete with for an Internt job.

12/22/08: Reported on TechCruch today, MySpace parent company Fox Interactive Media (FIM) also comprised of IGN, Rotten Tomatoes, Photobucket, Fox Sports, and more announced efforts to cut costs in this down economy.  In a memo from Fox Interactive chief Peter Levinsohn said ” First, have we have reprioritized our hiring needs for the remainder of the fiscal year”.  Hire Freeze?  Layoffs? and “We have made the decision to discontinue all meal subsidy programs currently being offered at FIM locations, effective January 1, 2009.”

I wonder if they will drop the Guitar Hero program, as the last time I was in their office they had two 60″ TV’s rockin’ with Guitar Hero.  Internet companies are slowly loosing the carefree Internet lifesytle….and that make me sad.

No more meal ticket? Looks like even employees of MySpace might make their way over to Facebook now.

What a shame, FOX Interactive Media hired some new people Monday June 1, 2009 and layed them all off Tuesday June 9th. How irresponsible, I hope these kids can get their old jobs back. POOR MANAGEMENT DEFINED>
