69 Dude! iTunes Store announces single song purchase price of 69 cents

Apple just announced at MacWorld that all songs will finally be going Copy write or DRM-free (Digital Rights Management).  So no limit of 7 copies per purchases song!  Song sharers and bootleggers rejoice.  The 2nd bit of news is some songs in the catalog will drop to $.69 cents in April, although they are also going to a three tier pricing of $.69, $.99, and $1.29.  So wait, now all the songs you’ll ACTUALLY want to buy are $1.29…the reality is they are really RAISING prices.  Shit, Apple you Bastards!  Back to Napster I guess.

  • No DRM is a good thing. Never stopped anyone from bootlegging anyway. As for the price hike, Apple might bring it down after a couple of months, when the hype of DRM free songs fizzles out. That's what they did when they launched the iPhone.
  • I wonder how long before a $1.29 song drops to $.99? What if it stopped being popular after 3 months (yeah, right)? I'm just sayin'.
