Not so snoogins: Kevin Smith’s LA Comic Book Store is closing

It was reported today that Kevin Smith’s Los Angeles comic book store Jay and Silent Bob’s Secret Stash will be closing it’s doors.  This is just over a year after the Westwood stand-alone store was shut down due to money issues and moved into the Laser Blazer DVD store.

Jay and Silent Bob’s Secret Stash close their doors (well, their corner of Laser Blazer) this Sunday, January 11.  Many items are marked up to 40% off.   If you can’t make this sale don’t worry, the New Jersey location is still open.  Tell the girlfriend it’s a vacation.

What no girlfriend?

It’s terrible how bad the economy’s gotten. If a celebrity comic book store that close to UCLA can’t stay open, what hope do any of us have?

I didn’t even know it existed. Oh well, sad to see it go?

Ha Ha, “What no girlfriend”, cruel and funny Jack. I checked that place out a few years ago and it had some pretty cool stuff in it, lots of props from him movies (Dogma) and an actual Daredevil costume. Plus some cool collectibles, although way too pricey. i bet we’ll see a lot of these type of shops closing soon. in a down economy what comic book nerds still have an extra $20 floating around for that Silent Bob action figure.

He may be putting out crap lately (Clerks 2…WTF!), but I know the ladies will thank him for bringing the world Matt Damon and Ben Afflect.

It’s depressing to see specialty shops close these days. Thought they may be pricey, they stilladd spice and character to the city they belong to.
