Home Depot to Close all Expo Design Center Locations

It was just announced today that Home Depot to Close it’s Expo Design Center Locations, eventually laying off 7,000 people nation wide (2% of it’s total workforce).  I frequented the Expo Design Center in Westwood when I bought my first place 6 years ago but after realizing there are so many cheaper alternatives out there I never went back.  I can see why they are closing especially in this down economy.  Read the official press release here on the Home Depot site.

I used to visit the expo quite regularly. The people that worked there were a great help designing my kitchen and bathroom. I loved all the products they had and purchased most of what I have now. You cannot get these products at a regular Home Depot or Lowes as the quality is just not there. If you want cheaper products and cheaper alternatives this is not for you. But, remember you are what you buy. This is not what the Expo was created for. And my comment about cheaper products (or as was stated cheaper alternatives) do not last. Every time I have used a cheaper product I have had to replace it within one year. You get what you pay for. And it is wrong to compare this store with other hardware stores. It is like comparing apples to bread. Absolutely no comparison. I loved the Expo and which I had one to go to near me. They were the best.
