Chris Brown punches Rihanna in the face – Wrigley Gum pulls his ads

rihanna-chris-brown-assaultThis is exactly what all of the headlines are not saying, but strongly implying.

Rihanna and Chris Brown were both last minute no-show’s as the Grammy Awards, Rihanna’s performance slot was filled by Al Green.  (What you really thought they were tipping their hat to Al Green?  No the Grammy’s see him as Rihanna’s seat filler.)

Apparently Chris Brown and a female (not Rihanna?) were hanging out in a rented Lamborghini near Hancock Park at around 12:30am after leaving Clive Davis’ annual pre-Grammy party.  There was an argument, and then some woman got punched in the face and called the police.  Chris Brown was MIA for a while but eventually turned himself in.   He was booked, taken into custody, and released after posting $50,000 in bail.

Now the world awaits paparazzi photos of Rihanna or a news leak telling us if the female in the car was, in fact, Rihanna.  Whether it was or wasn’t, Chris Brown’s got some splainin’ to do.

Sources tell E! News that the alleged victim was Rihanna, 20, and that she suffered visible bruises on her face during an early morning confrontation. Both in turn nixed scheduled Grammy appearances.

ShowbizSpy.com confirms that it was Rihanna and that Wrigley (the gum company) has suspended Chris Brown’s advertising campaign:

“We have made the decision to suspend the current advertising featuring Brown and any related marketing communications until the matter is resolved,” the company said in statement.

Wrigley would not go as far as saying they are dropping the singer completely, insisting Brown should be “afforded the same due process as any citizen.”

Brown, 19 handed himself in to police after officers responded to a phone call at around 12.30am on Sunday morning from an unnamed woman who accused the Run It singer of hurting her.

The crime report gives the victim’s name as Robyn Fenty – his girlfriend Rihanna’s real name.
