This post is more of a note to self than anything else, but it’s summer, and my old carnivore habits of summer hot dogs are coming out. Since Morningstar has temporarily removed their veggie dogs from the menu, I’ve switched to Yves tofu dogs, and really I can’t tell the difference.
That got me wondering though, where can I go out late at night and score me some veggie dogs? Sure, hot dogs in the summer are always a great idea, but hot dogs after a full night of drinking, well that’s just necessary. My Twitter friends @quarrygirl @EmpressEricka @SamKimSamKim @estarla @heizie @doubledentendre provided the following answers:
Pinks Hot Dogs: I had no idea Pinks had a veggie dog, but way down on the menu you’ll find The Patt Morrison Baja Veggie Dog
topped w/fresh guacamole, chopped tomatoes and chopped onions. Goddamn, now I have to wait in that line.
Wurstkuche: Veggie Italian Sausages! For reals? I will see you at Wurstkuche in 5 minutes. No, seriously.
The Frankenstand: Spooky-themed mobile cuisine. Taking plant-based food to the streets! From their Myspace: Serving up 100% Plant-Based Gourmet Franks Fresh off our Franken-Stand. Dress them with your choice of trimmings! We carry, Mustard (Regular & Spicy Brown), Ketchup, BBQ, Vegenaise, Hot Sauce, Relish, Jalapenos, Kraut, Diced Onions, Freshed Chopped Cilantro, & Pickles. Hand-Cooked Potato Chips and Baked Goodies! Wash it all down with a selection from our variety of healthy and savory sodas.
Fab Hot Dog: Fab Hot Dog in Reseda offers a ton of toppings and servers their dogs in a Ripper, or East Coast style. All menu items are available as a veggie option.
Dodger Stadium: I totally forgot that Dodger Stadium now offers meatless hotdogs. That is one reason to grab those free tickets that my coworkers are always trying to get rid of.
Who’s up for a veggie dog crawl?
