The Veggie Grill, my favorite vegan/vegetarian restaurant option in LA, is opening a new location in West Hollwood.  This is beyond awesome news because I was traveling all the way down to El Segundo to grab a bite of their Chickin’ Sandwich.

Here’s the press release:

The Veggie Grill is bringing its delicious, wholesome 100% plant-based food to West Hollywood’s newly renovated 8000 Sunset Strip on the corner of Sunset Blvd and Crescent Heights, this September. Already a favorite in Orange County’s Irvine community and Plaza El Segundo in Los Angeles, The Veggie Grill was recently recognized by Los Angeles magazine as one of L.A.’s “Best Cheap Eats,” an achievement that editors noted with the statement: “Each spot that made the list offers can’t miss and worth-driving-across-the-city kind of grub.” With a new location, The Veggie Grill is ready to revolutionize the way Angelenos eat, talk, and think about convenient, affordable, comfort food with its flavorful soups, salads, sandwiches, and desserts that people can feel good about eating.

“For the last year and a half guests from all over Los Angeles have been driving to our restaurant in El Segundo,” comments Co-CEO Kevin Boylan. “There is definitely a demand for The Veggie Grill in the Hollywood area and we’re excited to finally bring the perfect indulgence to the heart of L.A.,” adds Boylan’s business partner T.K. Pillan. The Veggie Grill is a premium fast-casual restaurant located steps from the famed Sunset Strip in West Hollywood. Modern Eames-style orange chairs, bamboo floors, natural wood tables, and artistic kiwi-colored images on the surrounding walls accent its comfortable, elegant design. Outside, a patio surrounded by lush greenery allows guests to enjoy The Veggie Grill’s unique premium dining experience while also taking in the sites of the surrounding area.

The Veggie Grill’s refreshingly delicious and affordable menu created by Operating Partner Ray White focuses on flavor first. “Plant-based food is delicious when it’s prepared the right way and we’ve come up with a unique blend of really flavorful spices and marinades,” says White. “We don’t use animal-fat, trans-fats, or refined sugar so our guests have a delicious, satisfying dining experience without the guilt.”

Signature menu items include the “Santa Fe Crispy Chickin’” (Crispy Fried Chillin’ Chickin’, Lettuce, Tomato, Red Onion, Avocado, Southwestern Spiced Vegan Mayo, $8.95); “Sweetheart Fries” (scrumptious Sweet Potato Fries, seasoned and served with Chipotle Ranch, $4.25); and Baja Fiesta (Chopped Romaine, Papaya, Avocado, Roasted Corn Salsa, Quinoa, Cucumber, Cilantro with a Ginger-Papaya Vinaigrette, $8.95). Three new additions to this satisfying menu are the “All Hail Kale” (Marinated Organic Kale and Red Cabbage, Roasted Corn Salsa, Agave-Roasted Walnuts with a Ginger-Papaya Vinaigrette, $7.95); “Bayou Chickin’” (Chillin’ Chickin’, lightly blackened with Cajun Spices, Lettuce, Tomato, Pickles, Thousand Island Dressing, $8.95); and the “Chickin’ Caesar Wrap” (Grillin’ Chickin’, Tomatoes, Lettuce, Caesar dressing, $8.95).

The Veggie Grill concept was created by Co-CEO’s Kevin Boylan and T.K. Pillan in pursuit of a restaurant that offers great-tasting, convenient, feel-good food. Teaming up in 2005, Pillan and Boylan traveled the country visiting restaurants serving wholesome fare. Their journey eventually led them to Ray White, former owner of Native Foods. After discussing their philosophies, the three entrepreneurs took a leap of faith and embarked on a business partnership with the idea for The Veggie Grill.

“As we’ve grown the company, we’ve remained very hands-on, always visiting the restaurants to make sure our guests are enjoying themselves. I just moved to West Hollywood to be close to this restaurant,” says Boylan. “And, with Pillan living near our Plaza El Segundo location and Ray living in Orange County, we each understand the communities that our restaurants are in.”

The Veggie Grill’s new West Hollywood location is opening in September 2009 at 8000 Sunset Strip (8000 Sunset Blvd. West Hollywood, CA 90046). There are three additional locations at University Center (4213 Campus Drive, Irvine, CA 92612), Plaza El Segundo (720 Allied Way, El Segundo, CA 90245), and Irvine Spectrum Center (81 Fortune Drive, Irvine, CA 92618).
