Best place to get a tire patched in West LA/Santa Monica?

sign_hugmebearI blew out my tire, but I made it as dramatic as possible.  I had just picked up an ice cream cake for the girlfriend’s birthday when I heard the rumbles.  It was a race against time!  There was an ice cream bear in a box on my passenger seat gasping for cold and I needed to hurry.  Thankfully the donut was quickly secured and the bear survived to see his ice cream legs eaten off an hour later.

As handsome as that donut is, I need to patch up a tire that has a nail sticking out of it.  (PS Why am I getting crazy parking tickets for forgetting to move my car on street cleaning day when therebenailseverywhere?)

I asked Twitter: Where can I get a tire patched in West LA/Santa Monica?

saragracer@LAsnark I like discount tires (i think?)on Pico - 5 or 10 blocks east of the Daily Pint (walk over and have one while you wait?)

petersanchez@LAsnark Americas Tire will patch it for free.. Just tip the dude $20

As you can clearly see from the tweets above, SaraGracer is a genius.  Thanks to PeterSanchez as well, a little greasin’ of the palms can go a long way in this town.

  • where did you get the cake?? I had a terrifying experience at the Baskin Robbins on Venice and Sepulveda a week ago... and by terrifying, I mean not really terrifying at all but I did learn that "Daiquiri Ice" has been a flavor for like 100 years and you can't get a receipt if you pay in cash. AND that no one gets chocolate, because their chocolate was NASTEE and freezer burned.

I got it at Carvel on Santa Monica Blvd, just east of the 405. I ordered online, then called to confirm, and they had no idea what i was talking about. Then I went in and they're like "I don't see a cake..." Eventually they found it but you need to check up on them.
  • Thanks for the post. Very interesting story. I am glad to hear that the bear survived. Unfortunate, I dont know where you can get a tire patched in West LA/Santa Monica. I have been living here for some time, but I still have no car (smile)
