The OohLaLA Festival, a three-day celebration of the current French music scene kicks off Wednesday, September 23 at the Henry Fonda Theater. Three-day passes and single night tickets are available now from Ticketmaster.
The festival’s first two nights will feature emerging talent from the indie pop/rock and folk scenes, with performances from Sébastien Tellier, Gonzales, and Cocoon opening up the festivities. Night number two will feature Nouvelle Vague’s “Hollywood Mon Amour,” as the band will pay tribute to 1980s film soundtracks with radical, loungey interpretations. The Dø, a Finnish girl/French boy duo will kick off the evening alongside the multi-talented Emilie Simon.
Put your dancing shoes on for the final night, fittingly dubbed “Electronic French Party.” Pulsing electro from Brodinski and The Shoes will show you why the French electro scene continues to thrive, while the Parisian duet Jamaica (formerly known as Poney Poney) will put a power-pop spin on electro, complete with a healthy dose of heavy ‘80s guitars.
