If you’re like me, you find yourself missing the grandiose guitar-based rock that we were spoiled on in the 90′s. I’m talking Radiohead’s The Bends, The Pixies Doolittle, and Sonic Youth’s Dirty. Somewhere in the 2000′s it seems like things got too simple, too sloppy, or too dance-y.
For a taste of that genuine guitar-based rock that you’re missing so much, you need not look any further than Silverlake, where Cue The Moon regularly take the stage. Led by singer/guitarist Kent Hutchison, Cue The Moon are a LA rock band formed by close friends sharing a common interest in creating original and relevant art. At times the music is atmospheric, and at others the band is a driving force. It’s hard to know what to expect at any given moment when giving their record a first listen, and that’s the way it should be.
