If you made it out to the Thom Yorke show last night (or last Friday at the Echoplex) you may have left with few questions. Is Thom Yorke on drugs? Is Thom Yorke “gettin’ some?” This whole time we’ve known Thom, has he really just wanted to dance? (jazz hands)
The answer to all of these questions is: Who cares? Thom Yorke’s solo shows are proving that he is one of the more dynamic figures we’ll have the pleasure 
of seeing in our lifetime. I’m not talking dynamic like going from 90′s whining to wtf electronic experiments. I’m talking, the sad dude you see in the Radiohead documentary Meeting People Is Easy, to the guy that was doing p90x cardio moves all over the stage downtown last night. It really was a crazed/awesome show.
And Flea. Flea was there. At the beginning of the show, Flea was doing his usual dance like those inflatable things that they blow air into on used car lots to catch your eye. Part of me thought Thom (the old Thom we knew, loved, and were kinda afraid of) was going to be like “Hey Flea, we’re doing a kinda somber set here, can you maybe just go put your head down and stand next to, or better yet, behind your amp? Thanks mate.” But then outta nowhere, Thom Yorke is getting all African tribal dancer on E. It was amazing and brought a very unexpected energy to the show, that left jaws dropped and booties shaken.
