Kooza is awesome.

Last Thursday I headed down to the foggy Santa Monica pier to take in what would be one of the more mind blowing things I have seen under a tent (I’ll share some old camping stories later.)  First off, thanks so much to @jessberlin for the tickets, we had a blast.

It has come to my attention via a phone call with my mother and a post-Kooza chat with the girlfriend that a lot of people think that Cirque du Soleil shows are all about dudes in tights swinging on rings.  The fact that my mom and gf thought this makes me glad they accompanied this belief with the comment “I’m surprised you’re into that.”

As awesome as dudes in tights swinging from rings can be, there is so much more that goes into the awesomeness that is Cirque du Soleil’s Kooza.  The story seemed to be about a boy that is frustrated with his lack of kite-flying skills who meets a really graceful guy in a striped suit who takes him into a magical land filled with characters that bend, flip, fly, swing, unicycle, and perform one armed push-ups on top of a skyscraper of wooden chairs.  The kid picks up some magic from the striped guy and (spoiler alert!) his kite flying skills are greatly improved.

If you, I mean when you grab tickets to Kooza and sit under that tent, your jaw will drop at least a few times.  It will happen.  Then maybe you will look up the definition of Kooza and find that it means “How do you even know that you can do that with your body?  That is insane.  Seriously WTF.” That’s the definition I found anyway.

Catch it while it’s here: http://www.cirquedusoleil.com/en/shows/kooza/tickets.aspx
