So The Pixies are still awesome. The band kicked off their tour last night at the Hollywood Palladium by running through their classic album, Doolittle. It was a treat for hardcore fans as they played the entire album including the B-Sides, of few of which Kim Deal herself barely remembered. The best part about hearing the full album with the B-Sides is that we got both versions of Wave of Mutilation, so whichever version you’re more partial to, you got it. Black Francis/Frank Black/Charles Thompson IV still has that voice, and the backing graphics featuring the members awkwardly posing made The Pixies seem really endearing, which is good to see after their documentary LoudQuietLoud depressed the Hell out of me.
There are only a few bands that I’d go back the next night and see but The Pixies are definitely in that category. So, um, feel free to share your extra ticket with me. Thanks.
