Some of the best times I have in the LA area are when I wake up early enough to ride my bike around town before there are any cars on the road. If you live on the west side, I highly suggest you set your alarm for 6am on a Sunday and ride your bike all the way down Wilshire to the beach. There’s nothing like it in LA. I’ve often fantasized about riding my bike down the 405. That will probably never happen.
Photographer Matt Logue seems to have had similar thoughts, and he has captured them in his book Empty L.A. The book features shots of Los Angeles as a ghost town. Empty highways, empty downtown, empty everything. It’s like driving to work on a Jewish holiday. Buy the book here: http://www.blurb.com/bookstore/detail/770625
