Happy New Year! This year I broke my three year streak of falling asleep before midnight to stay up late with Carson Daly while playing some living room Pictionary. Initially I would have preferred to play with an official Pictionary game which I could have sworn I owned (though now I’m realizing it’s probably in m parents’ basement somewhere.) He had to figure out another way.
Here’s what we used:
Word Generator: Provides word hints in the following categories – Easy Words, Moderate Words, Hard Words, Very Hard Words, Idioms, Animals, Popular Characters and People, Popular Movies, Popular TV Shows, Popular Books. We went with Popular Movies because it seemed to have the best balance between easy and challenging clues. Works fine on a phone.
Timer+ app: Really any countdown app will work, but this was free and this is the one we went with. We set our timer to 2 minutes.
Then gameplay goes as usual. Brush up on your Pictionary instructions here.
What I learned:
1. Pictionary is still fun.
2. I need to buy a second couch so I can recreate the set of Win Lose or Draw.
Here are a couple of our game sheets:
Movies appearing above: The Matrix, E.T., Shrek, Star Wars, Toy Story, Monty Python and the Holy Grail, The Incredibles, 101 Dalmatians, Beauty and the Beast, The Truman Show, Good Will Hunting, Aladdin, Pirates of the Caribbean, Full Metal Jacket, and Spiderman. Each clue was drawn until guessed. Toy Story and Monty Python and the Holy Grail were only two we didn’t guess.
