America’s Port TV show on Nat Geo channel- Port at Long Beach

I just finished watching the first Episode of America’s Port on my Tivo. It’s on the National Geographic channel and is fascinating. Long Beach PortIt focuses on the port of Long Beach and Los Angeles. Maybe it just a guy thing but the sheer size of these ships (length of 3 football fields) and the quantity of Cargo on these things is amazing, not to mention the logistics of unloading these monsters and trucking the cargo outta there while simultaneously loading the Cargo containers to go back to China (Yeah Consumerism!). Now I see why there is such a big push to get a green port down there as well as clamping down on the truck pollution. 1600 trucking containers are shipped out of there via truck or train a day…Damn!! If you have not checked this out yet, set your Tivo to start recording them. Plus it’s in HD…Schwing!

Episodes start on Monday night at 10, Eastern and Pacific times; 9, Central time. Check it out!

I saw the same tv series, and I have to agree with you. I found the show interesting, well documented and informative. Just seeing the amount of activities, with the trucks coming and going, the unloading and loading of the cargo as well as the inspections of the cargo. I’m looking for when it comes on again.
