Maybe it’s because I’m reliving my Beverly Hills 90210 days (damn you Soap Network!) but this place HIT THE SPOT. I’ve been craving a place where I can sit down dangerously close to the popping grease of the fry-o-later whatever that thing is, since I got to LA. My first attempt was a huge letdown, but this place did the trick.
I don’t require 50’s music, jukesboxes, root beer floats, or even throwback waitress outfits with my breakfast, just a nice full meal that doesn’t screw with the potatoes. You can go to any diner type establishment, and yes the eggs might be runny, your meat salmonellatastic, and maybe there’s a random garnish of some sort.. but the real way to tell a good breakfast place is by the way they do their potatoes. I’ve been to that huge letdown place that doesn’t deserve mentioning, I’ve hit up Coogies and Swingers. So far, these taters come up tops. Add to that the friendliness of the waitstaff, maybe it’s sassy 50’s waitress schtick, but I’m eating it up. The coffee is fine, the wait isn’t tooooo long on a Sunday morning, and the food is GOOD. Insider tip: tell them a counter seat is ok, you’ll be in and out before the people in front of you that didn’t check this option.
