I have lived in LA for 13 years and have never been to Mr. Cecil’s until now. I actually worked in an office building just blocks away from the West LA location on Pico for 5 years and never gave it a second thought.
So went to dinner with a buddy in Sherman Oaks in the Valley and he suggested Mr. Cecil’s, had ribs and hushpuppies. Remember those breaded pieces of heaven? It’s was the cornerstone to every buffet my parents dragged me to as a kid…hey I am from the Mid West, it’s what we did!
I have not had ribs in years, so it was great to go. I loved it so much I had to drag my four year old twins there the next day to experience the joy of hushpuppies first hand! Well, they weren’t so hot on them, maybe they have better taste than I do?

Oh I love this place, the one up in Studio City is especially good.

Plus the Studio City bar in that place is pretty killer, I love the nontraditional oval bars. Plus it’s dark wood decor makes you feel like you’re wither in a cabin eating ribs or a secret bar that has yet to be spoiled by “The Hip Crowd”
